Twelve Multinationals Established Headquarters in Panama in 2024

A total of twelve new firms 🏙️ received their Multinational Company Headquarters (SEM) licenses in 2024, generating a total of B/. 24.2 million in investments. The firms were from Argentina, Belgium (2x), China (2x), Ireland, Guatemala, Japan, Jamaica, and Singapore.

In the last two months of this year, two new Multinational Headquarters in Panama were approved by the Ministry of Commerce & Industry. CMI Alimentos Global, one of the biggest agroindustrial conglomerates in Central America (Guatemala 🇬🇹) and Hisense Group, one of the most significant brands of electronics and home appliances worldwide (China 🇨🇳).

The Panama Headquarters will oversee CMI Alimentos Global’s operations in 14 countries, including North America, Central America, the Caribbean, and Europe. For Hisense, the HQ will support Hisensense’s Group operations in four Latin American countries and one in Asia, helping to streamline its distribution network and strengthen its market presence. Together, the two businesses will invest B/.2,257,400.00.

Vice Minister Carlos Arturo Hoyos said he expects an increase in the number of companies established under this regime in 2025, further strenghtening Panama’s position as a regional center for multinational headquarters.
