The development of the Puerto Baru multipurpose port terminal commenced last week with a ceremony. The project will improve the region’s port development and logistics and has an initial cost of $250 million.
Puerto Baru’s general manager, Ismael Gonzalez, stated that since 2020, efforts have been made to finalize the project that will serve as a foundation for the western region’s strategic goal, positioning David as a terminal port on a global scale. Agribusiness, logistics, and eco-environmental tourism form the three pillars upon which the work is built.
The administrator of the Panama Maritime Authority (AMP), Luis Roquebert Vanegas, stated that this development underscores the organization’s dedication to assisting port infrastructure projects like Puerto Barú’s.
Finding an operator capable of carrying on the port’s development and optimizing its potential is the next critical step, according to the AMP administrator.
