Multinationals from Italy & Mexico Establish Headquarters in Panama

At the end of May the Ministry of Commerce & Industry (MICI) approved the establishment of two new Multinationals Headquarters (SEM) in Panama: Tri Marine Group Latam, S.A., a leading Italian firm 🇮🇹 in the supply of tuna products and Servicios Compartidos Pochteca, S.A., a Mexican company 🇲🇽 dedicated to the distribution of industrial supplies.

The approval of these two new companies brings the  total number of new headquarters under the SEM regime to five this year, with investments exceeding $6.8 million.

The other three companies that got their licenses approved earlier this year were Mozart Holdings LP (USA) in the sale & distribution o medical supplies, Mercantil Servicios Financieros Internacional, owner of Banco Mercantil (Venezuela) and BYD automotive (China).

About the SEM Regime

The SEM regime offers significant tax, labor, and immigration benefits to multinational companies that establish regional headquarters in Panama. There are 188 active SEM companies in Panama to date. To qualify, companies must meet specific criteria, such as having assets of at least $200 million or providing services to a minimum of seven affiliates. The total active number of SEM companies is currently 188.
