Earlier this week Inter IKEA Systems B.V. announced that it has granted the Sarton Group the exclusive IKEA franchisee rights for Panama 🇵🇦 & Costa Rica 🇨🇷.
Inter IKEA Systems B.V., HQ-ed in the Netherlands, is the global IKEA franchisor and owner of the Swedish 🇸🇪 IKEA furniture brand. The signed agreements are part of the expansion 🚀 of the IKEA Brand in the Americas and will add retail operations in Panama and Costa Rica.
Maria Johansson, IKEA’s Expansion Manager, said the agreements are part of IKEA’s broader strategy to grow its presence across the Americas  and will lead to new operations in Panama & Costa Rica.
In Latin America 🌎 IKEA has official franchise stores in in Mexico (2021), Chile (2022) and Colombia (2023), where the first store openend in Bogota on September 28, 2023.
The Sarton Group already oversees IKEA operations in the Spanish Islands, the Dominican Republic, and Puerto Rico. The Sarton Group will run the new locations and plans to apply its experience in these new markets. More details about the timing of the store opening dates in Panama & Costa Rica will follow at a later stage.
