Maersk Opens New Logistics Center in Panama Pacifico

  • News

Earlier this month A.P. Moller – Maersk has launched a new logistics 📦center in Panama Pacifico as a gateway to Latin America markets 🌎. Situated in a Special Economic Zone on the country’s Pacific side, the 20,000-square-meter facility is built to function as a central distribution center for businesses across Latin America, North America, and Asia. According to a press release by Maersk, it enables companies to streamline inventory management, improve regional distribution, and speed up time-to-market from a strategically connected location.

Designed for flexibility and scalability, the 20,394 m2 facility allows for single inventory management for multiple countries and channels, as well as national distribution, inventory and outbound management, consolidation, deconsolidation, and cross-docking. It also offers a wide range of value-added services, including labeling, kitting, repackaging, returns management, product disposition, palletizing, and quality control.

The warehouse & distribution center has direct access to the Pan-American Highway, Pacific ports, and nearby airports. It is also connected to the Panama Canal Railway Company’s railway system, which operates along 76 kilometers parallel to the Panama Canal. Maersk also provides air cargo services via Tocumen International Airport, linking Latin America to markets around the world.

Being located in the Panama Pacifico Special Economic Zone, the operation benefits from certain incentives such as simplified customs procedures, tax exemptions, and the ability to handle both nationalized and non-nationalized merchandise.
