Panama to Tender $200 million in Road Projects over the Next Three Months

Earlier this month the Panamanian Ministry of Public Works (MOP) announced it will tender $200 million in road projects 🛣️ over the next three months. The projects are located in various regions of the country, including Darién, Panama, Western Panama, the central provinces, and Chiriquí.

The projects include the maintenance of the David-Boquete Highway (US$11.9 million), the renovation of a section of the Pan-American Highway near El Valle de AntĂłn (US$15.8 million), and the maintenance of the Gualaca-ChiriquĂ­ Grande section of the same route (US$9.93 million).

Regarding the latter project, the Ministry of Public Works organized an approval session that was attended by 13 companies, among which Spanish CEMOSA 🇪🇸 , Constructora Meco 🇨🇷 , S.A. and Masterson Constructions Corp. 🇺🇸 

Below an overview of the other roads projects by region:

  • West-Panama: Renovation of the roads of Chame, Gorgona, and San Carlos 
  • CoclĂ©: Renovation of the La Colorada–Juan DĂ­az (AntĂłn) section, Tonosí–Cambutal section, Caldera’s main road, internal streets in Aguadulce, and the Tulú–El Palmar road
  • ChiriquĂ­: Maintenance of the David–Boquete Highway
  • Veraguas: Renovation of the streets between Calobre, La Reserva, and La Yeguada as well as road solutions for Quebro–Baradero; the CPA-Coquito–QuĂ©revalo connection in David Sur; and the La Nobleza–Playa La Barqueta section
  • Panama Norte: Chilibre highway, section between Don Bosco and Chagres (addendum)
  • Ngäbe-BuglĂ©: Renovation of the Tolé–Altos de Caballero–Potrero de Caña–San FĂ©lix section, including the Cerro Colorado area and the branch to Hato RincĂłn
  • DariĂ©n: Renovation of the streets of MetetĂ­ and Santa Fe
