According to the latest data from Panama’s Fintech Chamber (Cámara Fintech Panama) there are currently over 145 Fintechs in Panama. The largest segment is Paytech / Digital Payments (37%), followed by Lending (15%) and ETFI – Technology for Financial Institutions (12%).
Digital financial services are expanding rapidly in Panama. Mobile-banking transactions 📱increased by around 43% in 2024 and 37% in 2025, reaching 1.58 billion transactions and accounting for 59% of electronic-banking transactions in 2025, according to Panama’s banking regulator (SBP).

Opportunities for International Companies
The strongest opportunities for European & international companies are B2B financial technology, RegTech, cybersecurity, payments infrastructure & open-finance technology. Panama has a disproportionately large banking industry with 40 general-licence banks & 13 international-licence banks. Compliance requirements are substantial and electronic transaction volumes are rising rapidly, while SBP is placing more emphasis on cybersecurity and technology.
